Our Indonesian brass statues are hand made in Java, Indonesia using the lost wax method. When the statue is completed it is treated with chemicals that give it an antique patina. Then the artists use one last step which gives the sculpture its distinctive patina; they bury it in the ground. The soil has some natural acids that interact with the sculpture to give the statue it's unique, antique patina!
